Community Update - Mar 2024
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The new year is upon us and that means another year of putting Jasper County First (JC First). Last year, we were able to serve 120 Easter meals to the community with all supplies for the meal being purchased from Jasper County businesses. This includes all the food, cutlery, to go boxes and volunteers who worked it.
Our Back to School Bash was also a big success with 79 shoes, 72 hooded sweatshirts, and 30 haircuts given away to the community at no cost to the recipient. Again, we were able to work with Jasper County businesses to provide the shoes and sweatshirts to keep business in Jasper County.
The goal of JC First is to support the businesses and people of Jasper County Illinois. We cannot do this alone! We need your help! While the meals, shoes, hoodies, and haircuts are free to the community, they do not come free to JC First (although we do work with a number of businesses in the community who donate their products or offer at a discounted rate). Each year, the Easter lunch will cost around $1000. The Back to School Bash will cost nearly eight times that at $8000. You are probably used to us reaching out for donations before these two big events. However, we are now asking that you consider making JC First part of your monthly giving if you are able. This will help us not only continue to serve the community with the Easter lunch and the Back to School Bash but will allow us to expand and consider other community projects.
Our financial need is great, but we also need you! That’s right, we need you, the Jasper County Community to come and join us! We need your ideas for the next JC First project. We need your expertise in how to make that next community project a success. Please consider joining the JC First team to support and build up our community of Jasper County Illinois!
