Easter Luncheon Appreciation
Hello Church!
We are excited to get in touch with you and share what has been laid on our hearts to serve our community! While we are a newly formed organization, JC First would like to partner with your church as well as other churches of Jasper County to serve our community as a united group. Our goal is simply to BE the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus Christ to everyone we serve.
JC First began as an idea of two families who were inspired by a church that promoted a program that stated they were FOR that city. These families were so captivated by this idea that they began to brainstorm different ideas of what their own version of this program might look like in their home church. They prayed about the idea for several months and eventually felt that they limited themselves by being under a church’s name and decided to become a stand-alone organization. This allows us to better partner with other churches and supporting organizations which in turn, will help us collectively serve our community. In naming the organization, it was discussed that it should be dubbed “For Newton” as copy of the other church’s program but again, we felt that was too limiting. Instead, “For Jasper County” was mentioned as a way to broaden the scope and include more of the population but it did not feel right. As the result of continued prayer and thought, the name “JC First” was officially selected to dub the new service organization. “JC” is short for “Jasper County” but it’s meaning is twofold with “JC” also referring to Jesus Christ. We believe that we put our Savior, Jesus Christ, first by putting our community, Jasper County, first. The two families have grown into four couples and one individual for a total of nine committee members. They are: Chad and Jennifer Marshall; Randy and Joni Milliman; Kevin and Erin Wickham; Mark and Debbie Dougherty; and Brock Milliman.
Our first event was on Easter Sunday where we packaged 123 hot lunches to members of our community. A percentage of the recipients were employees of the gas stations and grocery stores in Newton, and first responders of Jasper County. We encourage you to check out our YouTube channel, “JC First”, to view the video of the event. We are currently finalizing plans for our next big event which will be held July 31 at Upcycle which will take place at Scott Avenue Christian Church. We are planning on providing basic haircuts for Jasper County kids going back to school by partnering with local hair stylists and beauticians, sponsored vouchers for shoes for Jasper County kids up to grade 12 at Jasper Clothiers, and handing out hygiene bags. We hope you consider partnering with us for this event in sponsoring shoes and/or hygiene bags. We currently have set goals of 25 kid-sized shoes ($45 each), 25 adult-sized shoes for older kids ($60 each) and 100 hygiene bags ($5 each).
We would really appreciate your partnership with JC First and your support in serving with us, financially supporting our mission, and always your prayers. If you have any questions about us, the upcoming event or would like to sponsor an item(s), please do not hesitate to contact us through Facebook Messenger (jcfirstnewton), email us at jcfirstnewton@gmail.com, or reach out to one of the members of the committee.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Blessings,
JC First Leadership Team
