Community Update - Jun 2023

Summer is well underway but we are excited to share what we have planned for our JC First Back To School Bash.
We are gearing up and have set the date for August 12, 2023 at Scott Avenue Christian Church, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. This event will be partnered with SACC's Upcycle event, which is a garage sale that all items are FREE.
Last year's Back To School Bash, for children in Jasper County (PreK to 12th Grade) was another great success and we are pleased to be conducting it again this year. This year we are once again partnering with Jasper Clothiers and Borgic Designs, as well as several local hair stylists to provide some of the same great services as last year.
Last year there was a bit of a shortage of shoes so we set the cap at 50, but we were actually able to give away 55 pairs of shoes. We worked with Borgic Designs to create a hoodie sweatshirt, we were able to give away 125. We were also able to bless 41 kids with new haircuts to go back to school with.
This year we want to set our goal higher! We have spoken with Jerry at Jasper Clothiers and he has a good stock of shoes ready to go and is willing to fit 75 kids with new shoes. We also would like to up our sweatshirt total to 150. With the rising cost on supplies to meet this goal we need to raise $8,000.
The JC First team is extremely thankful for the support we have received by churches and individuals within the community. We could not make this event or any other possible without your support.
