Community Update - Mar 2022
Hey there!
We would like to give you an update on our last event, Supporting Single Parents. In January we took nominations for single parents to receive $100 worth of auto repairs/service. Although we did not hit our goal of 50 nominations, the parents we did contact were extremely grateful for the outreach. We thank you for any donations and prayers offered up on this project and are excited to share with you what we have coming up next.
Last year we held our first free Easter Luncheon, and we are planning to hold that once again, this year it will be held at, West End Event Center. This will be a free meal to anyone in Jasper County. They will need to fill out the order form and let us know how many meals they would like to pick up or we can deliver inside city limits of Newton. Last year we were able to feed workers at the local gas stations, police and ambulance station, hotel, Dollar General as well as families in our community. We are looking forward to doing this again!
We currently have funds to supply 130 meals. Last year we served ham, hash brown casserole, green beans, a roll and a dessert. We are planning to do some of the prep work on Saturday, April 16th. If anyone is wanting to serve alongside us on Saturday or Easter morning, we encourage you to reach out and let us know. You can reach us through any of our social media pages, by email, or calling 765-820-5247.
We are looking for 4 helpers on Saturday, April 16th, between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. for putting the casseroles together, gathering supplies, chopping onion, and putting hams in roasters, this will be done at Scott Avenue Christian Church, in their kitchen. Easter morning, we are looking for helpers for shifts from 8:30 to 10:30 (6 helpers), you would be baking casseroles, preparing green beans, cutting and packing desserts. From 10:30 to 12:00 (26 helpers), you would be serving, helping those who are coming to pick up meals, traffic control, cleanup and delivering meals. We are also looking for help with preparing desserts. We currently need (10) 9x13 desserts that can be divided into 12 servings, that will provide 138 desserts to be handed out.
We have also included a flyer/order form to hang on your bulletin board at your church, scan and place in your bulletin, Facebook page or website. Copies can be made and handed out. If you have any church members, neighbors or friends who could benefit from receiving a meal on Easter that we can deliver, or you could pick-up and drop off we would gladly take their order.
We thank you for your time, donations and any prayers offered up to make JC First what it is, an organization helping our community.
Blessings,
JC First Leadership Team
